Imagine having succulent, tender barbecue while sitting outside under a tiki umbrella as you watch ocean waves come ashore. A little beachside shack along A1A in Ormond Beach provides this dreamlike setting.

Crabby Chris Beachside BBQ and Sweets opened here in 2014 and in that short time has earned the reputation as having the best BBQ in the Daytona Beach area.

Brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, nachos, tacos, burritos, wings, seafood, potato salad, collard greens, baby backs, and soft serve ice cream are just a few of the items featured on the menu.

While you’re waiting, play a game of cornhole or sit in one of the chairs by the fire pit overlooking the Atlantic.

On this visit, we ordered pulled pork and chicken sandwiches with mac and 5 cheese and cheesy-chipotle corn as our sides. Every single thing lived up to the billing. The sandwiches were coated in a healthy dose of their signature BBQ sauce and provided just the right amount of kick without being overwhelming.

The mac and 5 cheese was good, but the cheesy-chipotle corn could stand on its own. Hands down the best corn-on-the-cob I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I want that recipe!

Look for Crabby Chris on the west side of A1A just south of Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park. When you get close, roll down your windows and follow your nose!
