On the outskirts of Daytona in a place called Samsula is a dive bar that’s gained fame for what happens here during Biketoberfest and Bike Week, the area’s two big annual motorcycle rallies.

In a field behind the old Sopotnick’s Cabbage Patch tavern, thousands of bikers gather to watch young women strip down to their bikinis and wrestle each other in cole slaw.

The tradition dates back to 1985. Women come from all over the region to get their turn in the pit of shredded cabbage and vegetable oil. Drunken bikers gather around the fence to cheer on the contestants while hoping for a wardrobe malfunction or two.

After the match is called and the combatants leave the pit, they’re hosed off and prepare for future rounds. At the end of the day, only one is left standing and named the Cabbage Patch Cole Slaw Wrestling Queen.
