Mel’s Diner in Port Orange is about as steady as they come. A mostly breakfast place that also happens to do lunch really well — consistently well.

Items on the breakfast menu are traditional meals of the “home-cooked” variety from country fried steak and corned beef double hash to a large assortment of omelets. They also offer pancakes, waffles, thick French toast and homemade sausage bread. For lunch, Mel’s serves up old-fashioned hamburgers served on buttered buns, grilled sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, hot dogs and salads.

The top-notch speedy and friendly service always matches the high quality of the food. Servers seem to really enjoy making small-talk with customers. One of the best parts about Mel’s Diner is that the place is always exceptionally clean. Impeccable. The ownership and employees really take pride in providing a wholesome atmosphere along with the tasty food.

Prices are very affordable with nothing on the menu over $10.
