Driving down U.S. 441 through the small town of McIntosh, keep your eyes peeled near the intersection of Avenue G.

Outside McIntosh Village Antiques sits a 14-foot long Nautilus submarine modeled after the one piloted by Captain Nemo in the 1954 Disney film, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Shop owner Marshall Roddy purchased the 2,000-pound vessel in 2012 as a marketing tool for the store. He says it was lovingly built by a man named Tom Fire with the intention of starting an underwater tour company. The sub was put in the water once, but the idea of regular use was quickly abandoned because it would cost too much to certify the vessel.

In the years since Roddy purchased the Nautilus, it’s had the desired effect by drawing countless visitors to the shop and has become a local landmark in the process. By the way, in case you’re wondering – this beauty ain’t for sale.

UPDATE: The Nautilus was sold a few months after we visited.
