For Bob Dalton, his business Sackcloth and Ashes was born out of seeing his mother struggle through one of the darkest times of her life.
A couple years ago, the college-educated woman found herself homeless following a series of unfortunate circumstances.
Dalton says seeing his mother without a place to call home was a real eye opener. He started to call homeless shelters where he lived in the Pacific Northwest and inquired as to their greatest need. They all said blankets. So he started Sackcloth and Ashes as a way to help.
When someone purchases one of the handmade blankets, Sackcloth and Ashes donates a warm, comfortable fleece blanket to a shelter near the customer’s home. The blankets, which range in price from $40-$75, can be found at select retailers or can be ordered on the Sackcloth and Ashes website.
