Tucked away behind the Winter Garden Feed & Seed next to the railroad tracks you’ll find the best place to shop for local, organic grocery items in Central Florida.
Cathy and Robby Clay opened The Farmacy in November 2015. The winsome little storefront with its old-fashioned signage is an extension of the couple’s organic food business they started a few years ago.
The Clays regularly set up shop at the Winter Garden Farmers’ Market where they sold items like kale, meats, produce and dairy products. They quickly gained a following from locals who encouraged them to open a brick-and-mortar location.
The Farmacy mission: To promote health and wellness by providing natural, healthy food choices to the community. By providing locally sourced food, we reconnect people with their food sources while sustaining local, all natural farms.
A portion of the Feed & Seed building was remodeled to accommodate what feels like an old-timey grocery store with an almost speakeasy vibe. Creatively placed signage on Joiner Street helps direct the way to the airy and minimalistic space.
Tall wooden shelves stocked with jars of unbleached all-purpose flour and bags of hulled hemp seed hearts grace the white painted brick walls. Fresh produce like oranges, apples and pineapples are carefully stacked on tables in the middle of the room. Wire baskets help contain the grapefruit and melons.
Hanging on the wall near the door is a large roll of brown butcher paper where all the specials are handwritten with black marker each day. Burlap shopping bags with The Farmacy logo are available for $5.
For a place that sources organic produce and meats from local farmers, the prices at The Farmacy are very reasonable. When you go there, you can rest assured that you’re getting the highest quality food for you and your family. And the service provided by Cathy, Robby and their team is second to none!
