Albin Polasek was a Czech-American sculptor who created more than 400 works during his career, many of which are on display at his retirement home in Winter Park.
The historic site overlooking Lake Osceola offers daily tours of the home, studio, galleries and chapel.
Visitors are encouraged to roam the manicured grounds containing sculptures of both a liturgical and mythological nature.
Special exhibits frequently celebrate regional and international artists. During the last full week of April, the Polasek hosts the Winter Park Paint Out where 25 professional artists roam the city painting landmarks and landscapes with oils, watercolors and pastels. The finished works are immediately hung in the gallery’s “wet room” and available for purchase.
