Florida’s take on a “fantasy island” exists near Fort Myers near the northern end of Pine Island Sound.

First developed as a resort by real estate mogul Barron Collier in the early 1900s, Useppa Island operates today as an exclusive private island club with first-class amenities.

This tropical hideaway is only accessible by boat (they prefer you bring your yacht) or by seaplane, and only club members and their invited guests are allowed. Because of its serenity, laid-back atmosphere and lack of automobiles, travel magazines often list Useppa as one of the top island retreats in the world.

The one mile-long island includes several single family homes and the Collier Inn, an elegant “Old Florida-style” mansion.

As you might expect, there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep guests busy including croquet, fishing, golf, tennis and boating. Ted Bevelacqua spent his honeymoon on Useppa and, fortunately for us, documented the entire experience in this beautifully shot and edited video.
