Furniture store, bar and one of the coolest places you’ll find in Central Florida. Since 1997, Winter Park native John Washburn has racked up tens of thousands of miles trekking to exotic destinations in Asia and the Pacific Realm. On his journeys, he finds unique home decor pieces that run the gamut from simple and practical to whimsical and ornate. Some are vintage while others are made from an assortment of recycled materials.

Washburn has his picks shipped back to Florida where they’re displayed in one of his two showrooms. The original Washburn Imports can be found in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village. The second location is in the old J.C. Penney building in downtown Sanford.

Customers can spend hours searching through the stacks of handcrafted cabinets, tables and accessories. You’ll be hard-pressed not to find something you like and want to take home. Nothing in the showroom is cheap. Everything is beautifully made out of durable materials and is sure to be a conversation starter wherever it ends up.

To increase foot traffic at both locations, Washburn added the Imperial Wine Bar as an after-hours gathering spot. Catering to a more mature clientele, the Imperial is an ideal place to unwind after a long day at work or shopping for furniture.

The creatively constructed bar at the Sanford store has become a must-see landmark. Strange beasts peer out of every nook and cranny as if they’re about to snatch that cocktail out of your hand.

You won’t see anything like the Imperial Bar or Washburn’s furniture showroom anywhere else.
